My primary goals when working with students are that they achieve mastery, grow in excellence, and experience joy in music study. New concepts are presented in developmentally appropriate and systematic ways, resulting in technical ease, musical fluency, and meaningful expression through all stages of learning.
I have been teaching privately for twenty-eight years. Throughout that time, I have directed children's choir programs and served as a church musician, vocal soloist, and orchestral musician. I am a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy (horn, voice) and St. Olaf College (voice, horn, and organ) where I earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Church Music and Music Education. I have completed post-graduate training in Montessori, Orff, Dalcroze, and the Suzuki Method. I am a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Music Teachers National Association, the Michigan Piano Teachers Association, and the Holland Piano Teachers Forum.
